A high-level delegation from France met with the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jaffna, Sri Lanka on 28th of March 2025

A high-level delegation from France met with the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jaffna on 28th of March 2025 to discuss potential academic collaborations, including a future Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The talks focused on student and faculty exchanges, joint research programs, and partnerships in social sciences and humanities.
Dr. Vigneshwaran, Head Department of Political Science, invited guests and organised the meeting with the Vice Chancellor.
The French delegation, led by Dr Delphine Thivet, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Sociology, University of Bordeaux, France, Dr Alexis Avdeeff, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Anthropology, University of Poitiers, France and Dr. R Uthaya Suriyan, Associate Researcher at the French Institute of Pondicherry, emphasized strengthening educational ties between France and Sri Lanka. University of Jaffna Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sivakolundu Srisatkunarajah welcomed the initiative, stating, “This collaboration will enhance academic excellence and provide global opportunities for our students.”
The proposed MoU is expected to pave the way for scholarships, research grants, and cultural exchanges. Further discussions will be held to finalize the agreement in the coming months.
